MOMS Club® of Forest Hills, NY

MOMS Club® History

The MOMS Club®  started in 1983 when Mary James, an at home mother in California, decided she was tired of being alone at home.  She wanted to meet other at-home mothers and she wanted to find other at-home children for her children to play with.  When she discovered there were no other organizations that met during the day and allowed her to come with her baby and preschooler, she decided to start a brand new organization just for at-home mothers, and the MOMS Club®  was born.

The chapter she started was so successful she knew mothers in other areas must need the MOMS Club®  too.  Soon she and other volunteers were helping mothers start MOMS Club®  chapters across the country and around the world!

We now have over 2,000+ chapters and 100,000 members across the United States.  We also have international chapters starting too!

Our Chapter History

The MOMS Club®  of Forest Hills, NY, began in September 2005.
Jennifer was inspired to form the local chapter because she firmly believes in the principles of the MOMS Club® .  The MOMS Club®  has given Jennifer and her daughter the opportunity to meet new friends and have fun during the day!

It is Jennifer's hope that she can bring local stay at home mother's together so they can participate in daytime activities with their children, form new friendships, share ideas and advice and be a prominent voice in the community.  Jennifer also hopes she can encourage other moms to start additional chapters in Queens!

Our Purpose

To provide a support group for mothers who choose to stay at home to raise their children;

To provide a forum for topics pertinent to children, child-raising, homemaking, personal improvement and the family;

To engage in activities to enrich the lives of children in the community;

To undertake and complete at least one charitable, humanitarian or social welfare project related to children each year.

Our Principles

Women must be free to choose their personal path to fulfillment;

For women who choose it, raising their children is an important and fulfilling full-time job;

A family’s decision for a mother to stay at home to raise the children often involves considerable financial sacrifice;

There is no one right way to raise children, but that a major reason for the members to come together is their desire to seek out mothers with a common concern for raising their children in the best possible and most healthful way;

Children are a community’s greatest resource, and that a community’s concern for its children is marked by the quality of its schools.
